2012 Annual Meeting and Maxillofacial Oncology Preconference Abstracts and Posters Due March 15 

All abstract and poster applications for the upcoming AAOMS 94th Annual Meeting, Scientific Sessions and Exhibition and the Maxillofacial Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery (MORS) preconference program must be submitted by Thursday, March 15, 2012 via the online submission process.

Material on which the abstract is based may not be published before presentation. Abstracts submitted for oral presentation or for the poster session for the Annual Meeting are accepted for the following categories: anesthesia, epidemiology, facial cosmetic surgery, implants, infection, maxillofacial pathology, maxillofacial reconstruction, nerve repair, orthognathic surgery, pharmacology, regenerative medicine, TMJ, trauma and wound repair, and other surgical areas. The MORS program will accept only abstracts (no poster session) in the categories of oral and maxillofacial oncology and surgery.

Earn continuing education credits through the AAOMS online clinical continuing education program hosted by Blue Sky Broadcast. Carmen A. Troisi, Jr, DDS, life fellow - retired, Laverock, PA

1930-2011

Dr. Troisi maintained a private practice for more than 40 years, treating patients from across Southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. He also treated players on such local sports teams as the Phillies, Flyers, and Eagles.

He played football and baseball at Pennsylvania State University. Encouraged by his coach to focus on baseball, Dr. Troisi played shortstop for the Penn State team that went to the College World Series in 1952.

He went on to play professional baseball in the Chicago White Sox organization, moving up the minor league ranks until he was drafted into the Army during the final years of the Korean War. He served stateside at Camp Ritchie, Md., as a military policeman for two years, then returned to baseball, working his way back up to the AAA level before deciding to become a surgeon.

Dr. Troisi received his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania Dental School, and did graduate work at the University's School of Medicine. He performed his internship and residency at the former Philadelphia General Hospital. He was chief of oral surgery at Methodist, Rolling Hill, and Chestnut Hill Hospitals.

Dr. Troisi is survived by his wife, Mary; a son, Robert; two daughters, Laura T. Eck and Kathryn T. Charlton; and five grandchildren.
